We experience stress on a daily basis, both in our personal and professional lives and know the feeling of pounding heart, sweaty palms and wrenching gut all too intimately.

Our bodies are wired to react to stressful or potentially threatening situation in a very predictable way – an instinct that have  guaranteed survival of our species. Now we face a different challenge – the very mechanism that ensured our survival is at the root of most diseases running amok in Western society. In fact, anything from coronary heart disease, to gastrointestinal problems, diabetes and obesity, to hormonal and immune system challenges can be traced back to on-going stress.

We are very aware of how stress affects our emotional state – we might feel angry, depressed or anxious. Do you know, though, that every single system in your body is influenced by stress, right down to cellular and molecular levels, changing the way our cells deal with the potential invaders and communicate with each other? The video below offers a quick insight of how incredibly complex and miraculous we really are. Stress interrupts the free flow of information in this highly intelligent design creating a potential for disease.

Clinical research has shown meditation to be one of the healthiest way to distress – returning the body’s and mind’s function to optimal balanced state. We’ll finish the class with 30-minute group meditation.
