Group Meditation

“Meditation is the surest way to open a channel of healing. Old thought patterns; rigid habits of thinking and feeling begin to fall away of their own accord. When this happens, the mind is actually learning to heal itself.”

Deepak Chopra, M.D.

Next Group Meditation is on September 17th from 8 to 9 PM and it is by donation.

Group Meditation is a profound experience, more often then not quite different from one’s personal meditation practice. Why is this so?

My first meditation happened to be in a close- knit group of about 5oo people during Seduction of Spirit event in August of 2007. I was so moved by the powerful and palpable energy, there was no need or desire to understand this experiential knowledge logically .

Since I started teaching Primordial Sound Meditation, questions about group meditation keep surfacing in every workshop. Finally I decided to do some research.

Neuroscience explains that the deep and intense experience of group meditation is created by our brain’s ability to mirror the mood and emotions of people close to you. As the group settles into meditative state, the stillness and peace are reflected from one participant to another.

There’s a growing body of scientific evidence supporting the idea that meditation with others is a powerful force. Quantum physicists have observed the dramatic drop in crime rates during  large group meditation events.  In fact, law enforcement agencies in Washington, DC have been exploring the possibility that meditation could have a practical good effect on crime rates in their city. The video below shows the striking effect of group meditation on reducing the number of terrorist attacks and improving the quality of life during the peak of Lebanon war in early 1980s.
