WINTER CLASSES

TUESDAY

Pain Care Yoga

This weekly therapeutic class meets every student exactly where they are – physically, mentally, emotionally. We use breath work and mindfulness to calm the nervous system, and reduce chronic pain (most students report best nights of sleep after these classes). We move carefully and gently to improve range of motion and stability.

PAIN CARE YOGA class is specifically designed for students who live with persistent pain and major movement limitations. This class provides practical tools and everyday pain management strategies that enable you, not your pain, to be in control of your life.

Winter 2018 Session

When: Tuesdays 7:45 PM – 9:15 PM

Jan 9th – March 20th

Where: #200, 9914 – 109 Ave

How much: 318$ + gst

Gentle Yoga for Beginner Students

From simple to complex, from slow to faster-paced… With its intelligent sequencing and relaxed flow, this class is a perfect introduction to safe asana practice. We use elemental actions (such as rooting through the feet; engaging the core, or properly activating our quads) as refined building blocks of complete postures.

GENTLE YOGA is designed for beginner students, and also excellent for experienced practitioners wishing to polish their movement patterns to prevent common yoga-related injuries (knee strain, hamstring tears, shoulder damage.)

WEDNESDAY

Core RE-store

Core RE-store class is the bridge between corrective movement and a flow yoga class. We focus our attention on all things torso – alignment, breathing, muscle isolation and engagement – to shape our trunk into a strong and dynamically responsive “corso.”

It’s not all crunches and planks, either.

What sets this class apart is attention to lengthening as well as strengthening the vital muscles of the core, so that you can stabilize the bones in the upper body, rotate the torso with proper spinal curvature, and maintain stable pelvic position while sitting, standing, walking and exercising.

THURSDAY

Therapeutic Yoga: Corrective Movement Yoga

Through breath, we invite our bodies to unravel. We ask our joints and muscles to move in a healthier, more balanced way. We find true, sustainable stability – stability that doesn’t ask your body to tighten, stability that doesn’t shorten your breath. The result? Embodied understanding of how faulty posture, movement, and stabilization habits can create persistently tight shoulders, low back, unstable pelvis or a “twinge” in the knee; visceral learning and real-life movement strategies to get you out of tension-filled rut.

CORRECTIVE MOVEMENT YOGA is geared toward new students wishing to establish safe movement patterns before attending a regular yoga class, and also for those who experience stiffness, tightness or discomfort on a daily basis.

Ball + Yin

Balls increase circulation and stretch wherever they are rolled. The rolling and kneading action unglues persistent myofascial restrictions by unwinding knots, sticky lumps, and adhesions.

Once the myofascial adhesions are dissolved, yin postures work beautifully to lengthen and hydrate connective tissue, feed the nerve endings, and further soothe the mind. And because yin postures work along TCM meridian lines, you get the added benefit of acupressure massage – all in one workshop.

BALL + YIN  is used therapeutically for injury prevention and rehabilitation, fascial re-patterning, and maintaining optimal range of motion.
